Cirque du Soleil HQ
8400 2nd Avenue, Montreal
Cirque du Soleil had an idea to create a headquarters that would reflect its imaginative
style and risk-taking ethos. In June of 1995, it took that idea and created a $60 Million CDN
studio in one of the poorest neighorboods of Montreal: the Saint Michel District. The studio
complex sits on one of the biggest landfills in all of North America (the second largest in fact)
and covers approximately 75,000 square meters of land (of which only cost the Cirque
$1.10 CDN per square foot). Inside the 32,000 square meter studio complex resides two
Training Bays, a 361 square meter Dance Studio, a 3,761 square meter Costume Shop, a
929 square meter Props Workshop, a Cafeteria, Offices, and much, much more! The complex was
designed by Dan Hanganu and Eric Gauthier, both well-known Canadian architects. They supervised
the buildings initial inauguration (on February 20, 1997) as well as its two build outs: one
completed in June 1998 and the second in December 2000.
These pictures below show a peek into the Cirque du Soleil Headquarters. You'll find an
image of the Costume Shop (top left), the Training Bay (top right), and one of the
main hallways (bottom right).
